Training Contracts
At Lees Solicitors LLP, the development of our people is paramount. We aim to give our trainees a rich breadth of experience and the possibility to come into contact with different areas of law first-hand and to witness various working styles. When you join us, you will see, and be part of, a true team. Our principals and senior staff will further your development by giving you on-the-job insight and advice on a daily basis, ensuring that you learn the practical skills and hands-on approach required of an excellent solicitor. You will see the bigger picture immediately through exposure to clients and to complex and motivating files. Being a smaller firm, everything is easily accessible, meaning that all the support and help you need is right there whenever you need it.
We are looking for law and non-law graduates who are hard-working, dynamic, creative and bright. Communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. At Lees, we pride ourselves in a friendly and team-driven approach. Our trainees come from a broad range of backgrounds and we are looking for true personalities to fit into this varied environment.
Our retention rate on qualification for trainees is extremely high. When you join Lees Solicitors LLP, we train you as a future solicitor, not simply as a trainee on a two year contract, and we hope to create a collaborative working relationship that will last for many years. We also believe in work/life balance. When you are at work, we expect you to be focused and to give 100%. And then we would like you to switch off, go home and enjoy your evening.
We are now recruiting for training contracts beginning September 2009. If you wish to apply, the deadline is 31 December 2008 and we will be considering all applications in January 2009. Please send your curriculum vitae and covering letter to Joanna Kingston-Davies by e-mail at recruitment@lees.co.uk or by post.
Testimonial from one of our current trainee solicitors Martin Hood.
"Lees appealed to me because they were an established and expanding firm with a number of different practice areas. I was looking for a training contract which offered me the chance to experience a variety of areas of the law in a firm where I was treated as an important part of the team rather than just another trainee. As the firm was well-established and also had ‘Investor in People' status, I knew that they would be in a position to offer me a very good standard of training.
I am currently working in the Clinical Negligence department, having completed seats in Wills & Estates and Commercial Litigation. I am pleased with the level of responsibility I have been given so far in my work - there is a real sense that the firm is helping me to prepare for life as a qualified Solicitor.
The working environment at Lees has been friendly and welcoming from the start. I have always found my supervising Principals to be approachable and have established good working relationships with other members of staff.
There is an active social side to the firm which trainees are encouraged to get involved in, including nights out, pub quizzes and even a firm football team!"
